This album came about through a happy and a sad event, the arrival of Christmas and the recent death of Dutch pianist Martijn van den Hoek. He was the winner of the 1st Liszt Competition in 1986 and chairman of the Dutch Liszt Society. In 1987 he created a Christmas album containing a.o. the music from this album. This recording is my way of wishing everyone a merry Christmas and at the same time paying tribute to Martijn van den Hoek.
